Erasmus Policy Statement

The following was submitted in 2014 as Section D of the Institution’s Charter application.

Institution's international (EU and non-EU) strategy.

Current situation

We already have experience in the field of international mobility both for those professional training students who want to do their internship abroad (Short cycle) (from schoolyear 2007-08 to 2010-11) and for those secondary students (through several projects sucn as eTwinning, Comenius, etc.). In our strategic plan 2013-2017 we have already included, among other aspects, the promotion of international internship for our “Short cycle” students and the exchange of teaching experiences.
For the “Short cycle” studies in the health sector we already have a formal agreement with IPSIA Di Marzio_Michetti de Pescara (Italy) through which teaching experience exchanges and training visits are offered. We also have a non-formal agreement with ANTLO (Associazione Nazionale Titolari di Laboratorio Odontotecnico) and with the Departamento de Estomatología y Ciencia Oral from the University of Chieti (Italy) for international internship.

IPSIA Di Marzio-Michetti de Pesacara is an institution with ample experience in the field of professional training, especially in the odontology field.

ANTLO (Associazione Nazionale Titolari di Laboratorio Odontotecnico) is the main association of professionals in the field of dental prothesis in Italy, and especially in the area of Pescara (Abruzzo), where there is a huge concentration of talented professionals known worldwide.

We contacted the Departamento de Estomatología y Ciencia Oral from the University of Chieti (Italy) thanks to our contact with IPSIA Di Marzio-Michetti in Pesacara. Considering that the studies of Dental Assistance in Italy are university studies, we made an agreement through which our students could do their internship in a university clinic, which means a highly motivating and demanding context for our professional training students.

Currently we are working on similar agreements with the studies we offer on the Physical Education and Sports sector.

Our objectives are:

  • Schoolyear 2014-2015. Last stage to make the formal agreements with institutions from the two professional sectors (health and physical education and sports).
  • Schoolyear 2015-2016. At leat 5% of our available students for international internship will do the international mobility. At least one teaching experience exchange will take place.
  • Schoolyear 2016-2017. Between 5 and 10% of our available students will do their internship abroad. At least one training visit and one teaching experience exchange will take place.

In order to achieve these objectives it is required to:

  • Allocate roles to the members of our international groupwork
  • Foster a new period of collaboration in the professional health sector since the current partners are totally suitable: a) the language barrier (Italian) is weak. b) IPSIA, ANTLO and the University of Chieti offer a high level of training, both in the teaching experience exchange (IPSIA) and in the high quality of internship period they offered (ANTLO, University of Chieti). c) We already have experience in the field of exchanges and international collaboration in the past, which gives us deeper knowledge about one another and facilitates the future collaboration.
  • Finish the selection of partner institutions in the Physical Education and Sports sector. Mainly we are looking for training institutions (for doing teaching experience) and Italian and German enterprises in the field of sports (for doing international internships) for their high quality and the weak barrier of the language in the case of Italian and in the case of German the language of communication could be English. In order to achieve these collaborations we already have professional contacts in the sports sector (through our course of expertise on football training studies), together with the ample experience we have with sports enterprises at a national level, which allow us to establish contacts with their partners in Europe.
  • Formalise the rest of the agreements
  • Plan the activities to be carried out according to the Annual Plan and the agreements made with the partner institutions
  • Revise the strategies used to promote the programme both with the general public and with the scholarship holders
  • Distribute the tasks among the coordinators and the mentors of the professional sector
  • Evaluate the action plan in relation with the set objectives

Institution's strategy for the organisation and implementation of international (EU and non-EU) cooperation projects within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.

The school will participate through the Education Authority (Regional Ministry of Education). However, we are interested in taking part in the following areas:

  • teachers exchanges
  • collaborative associations in the field of sports
  • incorporation of innovative internships

Expected impact of our participation in the Erasmus+ Programme on the modernisation of our institution.

With our participation in these programmes, we hope to collaborate in, at least, two of the objectives set by the member states:

Increasing attainment levels: one target of the Europe 2020 strategy is that 40 % of young people should complete higher education studies by 2020. To achieve this, the EU needs to attract more people into higher education, particularly through outreach to school students from disadvantaged groups and adults. To increase the number of researchers, the prospects for careers outside academia must be developed and the obstacles encountered by women in this profession must be eliminated.

Promoting mobility and cross-border cooperation: the number of students completing a period of study or training abroad must double by 2020. To achieve this, mobility must be systematically built into curricula and obstacles to mobility such as problems of recognition of diplomas and credits or portability of grants must be eliminated.

At the same time, they should help us in the following two directions:

  • a) In order to improve our two most powerful offers of our short cycle courses (Health – Dental Assistance and Physical Education and Sports) and to promote them by offering students the chance to have their internship abroad and the exchange of professional experiences. This added value is based on quality education, in other words, providing students with a good competence in their field, a panaeuropean vision of their profession and eventually all these will provide them with a better and highly-qualified competence for future employment.
  • b) We hope that all the experience we have from this education level of short cycle through all these projects will be the springboard for the emergence of other international projects in the other lower education levels. We are already working on some international projects at secondary level (12-16 year-old) and upper-secondary level (16-18 year-old) (Comenius project multilateral association, eTwinning, etc). All these projects will allow us to expand our European scope in the future.
